Ever wondered what God’s overall plan entails? What is it that matters most to God? I have been a Christian now for forty years and continue to be astounded by what matters most to God! God’s heart is for the nations of the world. It always has been and you will notice this from the front cover of His word to the back cover! The plan of God is the salvation of the nations. Jesus is the one to carry out this plan through His birth, life, death and resurrection. This work is continued through the Holy Spirit empowering the church to reach every tribe, language and nation. It first started in Jerusalem and then spread out through the countryside, through Judea, Samaria and on to Europe and is continuing to go to every part of planet earth.
Key to the fulfilment of God’s plan is His children – people like us! Each one of us has been chosen and adopted to be a
member of His family. As members of His family He has charged us with responsibility and that responsibility is to tell others about the good news that the Messiah has come and salvation is now available! We have been given the gospel to proclaim! It is hard to imagine that the Lord God Almighty would choose us to help fulfil His great plan! But He has and we need to gather together and determine how best we can serve Him and facilitate the fulfilment of His great and awesome plan! This is why we commencing 2014 with the study of the Book of Acts!
We have spent much time over the past six months reviewing what Jesus expects of His church when we reviewed His letters to the seven churches. We prepared ourselves too with investigation into the Book of Proverbs so that we may understand what true wisdom is and how it must be sought after before all else. And after being reminded of the great news of Christmas and how the Messiah finally came and impacted planet earth we considered five Psalms of Ascent where we were challenged to call out to our Lord God for help and guidance in a life of challenge. I hope that each one of you will be part of our study of Acts through attendance at Grace Groups! My prayer is that God will reveal His heart to you and what is expected of you too!
